Brand Identity

Michigan Opera Theatre (MOT) is the Great Lakes Region’s premiere opera company. Operating out of the Detroit Opera House, built in 1922, MOT sought to modernize their brand image through an identity redesign. Our visual strategy was inspired by decorative architectural elements within the Detroit Opera House.

The monogram and wordmark are grounded in Michigan Opera Theatre’s rich history while communicating a contemporary sensibility for an important cultural institution in creatively progressive Detroit.
